He was born on December 12, 1933 in Baltimore Maryland, the son of the late Thomas Greenbury Davis, and Nell Wright Davis. Tom spent his early years in Baltimore attending Polytechnic Institute and Calvert Hall High School, where he excelled in sports including wrestling and ice hockey.
