RIP Uncle Fritz

- Nina Berry, Greenwood, IN

My father led me to Jerry Lee Lewis, Fred led me to Blind Faith & Johnny Winter. Music has always been in my life. My favorite WSP song I dedicate to you Fred. The leaves seen through my window pane Remind me that it's time to move my life again November sun is felt by none A chilly breeze has blown my thoughts to what's to come A cup of warm coffee, some vitamin C A bowl for the cat, a bowl for the dog, a bowl for me Choose my bluest tape and unlock my car An honest tune with a lingering lead has taken me this far On the edge of the porch in the warm evening night Throwing the bone for the dog I see two passing lights Well, I wonder where that driver's bound Is there someone, somewhere, someway out there that I've not found A touch of smoke ain't what it seems Dust and sunshine can also make my eyes look mean But there's a brown cat sleeping through this day's show Toppin' off the woodpile, breathing slow. I am glad we made peace brother Fred, Lynn H Goodman and family.

Many of my fondest childhood memories were in the company of Uncle Fritz. Every story was always an adventure you wished you had seen yourself. Every lesson was through the heart of music. Every question was answered from the bellow of his laughter because his answer was unbelievable and true at the same time. Like so many all over this great country, we are better people for having known him and he will always hold a special place in our hearts. The treasures I hold from him cannot be sold, but will be placed in the hearts of my own. Rest in peace dear Uncle and 'enjoy the ride'.

- Bonnie Mulinaro, Indianapolis, IN

It was always a 'long, strange trip' with Uncle Fritz. He would take us to the beach where we would jump waves, dig for sand dollars, and listen to good ol' heart-warming music. He taught me how to swim. He taught me to appreciate a good jam band. He taught me to laugh. I will never forget all the many lessons you taught. Thank you. May you rest in peace.

- Jessica Hunter, Greenwood, IN

I carried Fritz's last name for 27 years. We had an exquisite daughter and 3 beautiful grandchildren together. I see shadows of him in all of them. He will live on thru them. We will all miss Fritz more than words can express. 'Peace out' husband and old friend.

- Robin Tarvin, Savannah, GA

They say friends are the brothers and sisters we pick, Fred was my friend and my brother. We travelled together frequently over the years mostly to live music venues that he 'turned me on to.' Needless to say my life was not the same after meeting Fred and never will be. Many of my friends today are a result of having met him and I consider them all family too as did Fred . My condolences to Renee, the girls and all his family. Peace brother. We'll all miss you.

- Delbert Vohringer, Shellman Bluff, GA

My wife and I met Fred at Springfest 2009 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. It was our first time but Freds 14th or 15th. We were awoken by some campers trying to set up a tent with no instructions. It was really funny to watch. We saw him a couple of times a year and always enjoyed his stories. We miss you and love you Fred. Scallywag and Eddie.

- Randy Scallywag and Eddie Ahlswede, New Smyrna Beach, FL

My cousin Fritz Fred, Jr. was one of the many Hendrix cousins who spent time at Granny and Granddaddy's house over the many years we were all growing up together. He was one of the closest to me in age and we shared a similar background of experiences based on the 'times'. I also shared his love of music and that often dominated our conversation whenever we saw each other. I'll remember his piercing eyes, his bushy beard, and especially his hardy laugh. Sail on, bother!
