Rita Gavin Flannery of Skidaway Island passed away on October 3, 2012 at home, attended by her husband of 63 years, John William Flannery. Rita, born in Jersey City, NJ, was the youngest child of James and Margaret Sheedy Gavin. Rita graduated from St. Dominick's Academy in Jersey City. She lived in Livingston, Westfield, and Convent Station, NJ, before retiring to Savannah in 1985. In retirement, she was an avid golfer, an even more avid bridge player, and she worked with St. James Church to provide meals for the community.
