He was born on September 22, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, and spent his youth in Coldwater, Mississippi, where he worked on the family farm until his graduation from Coldwater High School in 1960. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II.
