He graduated from Savannah High School in 1955 and the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1959. He began his business career by joining the investment brokerage firm of Varnedoe and Chisholm in Savannah in September of 1959. Frank was on his way to Savannah to participate in a charity concert to raise money for Whirlwind Wheelchairs for People with Disabilities who need wheelchairs.
