Birmingham, Alabama – Frederick O. Palmer, 86, died April 22, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Savannah and was a resident of Birmingham since 1956. Mr. Palmer was a graduate of Benedictine Military School and the University of Georgia. He retired as controller from a subsidiary of St. Regis Paper Company. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. His wife, Nola Williams Palmer preceded him in death. She retired to Port Orange, Florida where she lived seventeen years prior to moving to Savannah two months ago. Chris proudly joined the U.S. Army in 2007 as a Helicopter Hydraulics Specialist. He heroically served in Iraq, where he received a combat related disability while deployed in a combat zone.
