Dr. Elmar von Kurzbach, 85 died Friday, November 20, 2009 at his residence on Talahi Island. He was born on April 7, 1924 in Germany. He was a 1952 graduate of Leopoldino Franciscea University Medical School in Austria. He was a family practice physician in Savannah until 1977. He was also a graduate of the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, Pensacola, Florida in May, 1979. He retired in 1991 as a Captain from the Medical Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve, as a Flight Surgeon.
