Ruth Kersey Showalter, 90, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at home after a long illness under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice and surrounded by her family. Mrs. Showalter was born May 28, 1920 on Johns Island, Indian River County, Florida, the youngest child of the oldest living Pioneers of Indian River County. She attended Vero Beach Florida schools graduating first in her class and the state of Florida at the age of fourteen.
