He retired to Savannah in 1990. His wife, Doris Walter Ruddy and daughter, Deborah A. Wunderley preceded him in death. Survivors include his grandson, Shane Wunderley and his wife, Tabitha; great-grandson, Tysen Wunderley, all of Springfield, and son-in-law, Bill Bowers of Savannah.
