He was born in Okatie, South Carolina, on December 21, 1944, to Elmer Ainsworth Allen and Edna Mae Brown. Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving for three years, including during the Vietnam War. Joseph enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.
