Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Clyde and Melicent Buckingham. He grew up in Southport, Connecticut and graduated from the Berkshire School, ’50 and Middlebury College, ’58. He served as a U.S. Naval Aviator in the Far East from ’53-’57.
