Marguerite "Graham" Anderson

December 10, 1932 - July 28, 2026

Marguerite Anderson was born in 1932 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia, to Bill and Mildred Graham. She was raised on the family farm as the oldest of eight children, taking on responsibility from an early age by helping care for her younger siblings while excelling in school and community life.

As a teenager, Marguerite enjoyed sewing, cooking, and playing basketball. Her dedication to learning earned her the distinction of graduating at the top of her class from Hazlehurst High School. At just 19 years old, she married Benny Carter, and together they made their home in Savannah, Georgia, where they raised two sons, Gary and Brian.

After her sons were grown, Marguerite began a successful career at Gulfstream Aerospace, where she worked until her retirement. Later in life, she married Andy Anderson, with whom she shared many happy years.

Marguerite is the proud mother of two sons and grandmother of many grandchildren. She is remembered for her love of cooking and baking, nurturing plants, caring for her beloved cats, and her deep faith. She was an active member of her church and found great joy in singing in the choir. Her life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Savannah. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Anderson was so kind to have come to my Mother's visitation in 2015. She and I talked and shared memories. Mrs. Anderson was soft spoken and comforting and such a sweet person. My Mother had explained her connection to "Marguerite" and how beautiful and sweet she was. I am so sorry for the Family's loss.

I am sorry for the loss for the family of Marguerite. She was a wonderful neighbor. I loved seeing her in the early evening rocking on her rocking chair and enjoying the fresh air or talking with Sue, the neighbor across the street. Her lemon pound cake was a dream to look forward to each Christmas. Her cat, Pepper, was the sweatiest thing. We all loved her sweatiness and love on our block. She was a true pillar of our community.
