Celebrating the life of
Kurtis "Kurt" Kreplin
January 21, 1962 - July 15, 2026
Kurtis "Kurt" Kreplin, age 64, of Rincon, passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He was born on January 21, 1962, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Gerald Kreplin and Betty Schultz Kreplin. Kurt graduated from Ross Beatty High School in Cassopolis, Michigan, where he loved sports and lettered seven times. He attended Olivet College in Michigan his freshman year on a football scholarship and lettered that year. He then transferred to Oklahoma State University, where he joined the OSU Cowboys football team as a walk-on for a year under Coach Jimmy Johnson. He graduated from OSU with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and was always proud to be an OSU Cowboy.
Kurt worked at Mercruiser in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Hartford, Wisconsin, for twelve years. He then spent more than 25 years at International Paper, progressing from Regional Human Resources Manager to Senior Employee Relations Manager at the corporate level, where he was responsible for 125 locations before retiring in 2019.
He was always proud to be part of the International Paper family and cherished the many coworkers he knew during his time there.
Kurt was a member of Compassion Christian Church, Effingham Campus, in Rincon. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, watching his favorite sports teams (Oklahoma State, the Dallas Cowboys, and Notre Dame), and traveling. He especially loved spending time with family and friends and watching his grandchildren play sports. Kurt was witty, generous, and hardworking. He had a big heart and loved helping those in need. Family always came first; he was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was so proud of his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Kreplin.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Sherri Myers Kreplin of Rincon; his two daughters, Katy Sikes and her husband Justin of Rincon, and Kelly Henson and her husband David of Collierville, Tennessee; his four grandchildren, Marley, Cooper, George, and Chandler; his mother, Betty Kreplin of Enid, Oklahoma; his brother, Kevin Kreplin and his wife Cheryl of Edmond, Oklahoma; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until just prior to the service. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Kurt Kreplin's honor to the American Stroke Association or the American Heart Association.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kurt Kreplin. Kurt was my former boss, a trusted friend, and one of the most important mentors in my career. He was an exceptional employee relations leader whose guidance, confidence, and generosity helped shape the professional and leader I am today. I will always be grateful for his mentorship and friendship. My heartfelt condolences go to Sherri and the entire Kreplin family. Kurt will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
