Born in Springfield, Missouri, and raised in St. Petersburg, FL, she was the daughter of the late Reverend J. Bashford Bishop and Ruth Bishop. Miriam was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed her church family and Bible study. She also volunteered at Candler Hospital gift shop when her health permitted.
