Celebrating the life of

Joseph Patrick Moore

January 01, 1960 - May 05, 2022

Joseph Patrick Moore

Joseph Patrick Moore, a lifelong resident of Savannah, GA, successful businessman, and beloved husband and father, died suddenly in a boating accident on May 5, 2022 near Wilmington Island. He was 62.

Born January 1, 1960, he was the sixth of seven children of his late parents, Clayton Moore and Jane Redmond Moore. He grew up amongst many lifelong friends in the Fernwood neighborhood of Savannah, attending Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School and then graduating from Benedictine Military School in 1978 where he was a letterman in football. Joe also received his business degree from Savannah State University. He was proud to dedicate much of his time and energy to supporting Benedictine, where he helped renovate parts of the school and established a scholarship in his father’s honor to help students in need. Joe also was a long-time parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island and a member of the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.

Those who knew Joe often commented on his work ethic and diligence. Joe spent many years working at Savannah Rubber & Gasket Co., but ultimately his entrepreneurial spirit compelled him to start his own business in an innovative industry – and Precision Cutting Service was established in 1994. It remains a tremendously successful business serving customers across the country.

Few places made Joe as confident and content than when he was on the water – a trait he inherited from his father and shared with his brothers. Whether cruising the waters around Savannah’s islands or on the swells of the open ocean, Joe was an aficionado of boating and fishing, truly in his element when not at port. Not one to be bound to a single hobby or interest, Joe also recently became a pilot, which fed his curious nature and lifelong desire to challenge himself. He enjoyed flying friends and family on his plane in the skies above Savannah and even across the straits of Florida to his Bahamian vacation home.

As aforementioned, he is preceded in death by his parents as well as two siblings, Mary Moore Bacon and Paul “Stump” Moore and also his nephew, Daniel Moore. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Tina, and his beautiful, cherished daughters, Erin (Brenton) Moore of Columbia, SC, and Kristin Moore of Savannah, GA. In addition, he is survived by three sisters, Angie (Mark) Romagosa of Longwood, FL; Claire (Ray) Tackett of Savannah; Brenda Moore of Savannah, GA; and a brother, Bernie (Debbie) Moore of Savannah. Joe will be missed tremendously by numerous nieces and nephews from Savannah and Orlando to Virginia and Chicago - and beyond. His countless friends and business associates mourn the loss of a great man and colleague.

Visitation to be held Tuesday, May 10th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with the Rosary starting at 6:00pm at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 11th, at 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in memory of Joe Moore to the Clayton Moore ’45 Endowed Scholarship at Benedictine Military School or in memory of Joe Moore to the Jane Redmond Moore Scholarship at St. Vincent’s Academy.

I am so sorry about Joes passing. I king fished with Joe and Stump many moons ago on the grady white. I started fishing the stream back in the 70's and in those days boats did not leave the dock until dawn. Leaving the dock at 2 am is really a big stress on your system, I hate to think how many times I ran that gauntlet. 2 years of running 100 foot tug boats offshore gave me a good foundation for safety at night. I have just got back from the Mayo Clinic when I heard the shocking news. David

Tina, Aaron and Kristen, I am very sorry and heartbroken for your loss. Hearing that the good Lord decided it was time for Joe to come home was a huge punch in the gut. I have literally known Joe since first grade at Nativity and growing up together in Fernwood. I have many fond memories Carpooling back-and-forth to Nativity in his parents white station wagon and the many times his dad Clayton took us to the drive-in theater in that old station wagon. And then there’s the fact that Joe liked to talk. Get him going on the subject and he would not shut up. Joe is going to be greatly missed but he fulfilled his life’s goal and lived the American dream Stay strong and God bless. Our Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

- Ray Woodberry , Savannah, GA

Tina and Girls. I've known your Dad since our early days in the "rubber mafia". Joe in Savannah and I in Birmingham. Over the last 40 years we have shared many stories amd laughs about how we survied and became successful in our own rights. I brought my 10 year old grandson with me on a business trip to visit with Joe and Sean 4 years ago, and to this day he still talks about Mr. Joe and Mr. Sean. He will be sorely missed, but we have all been richly blessed to have known Joe. He was a Hoot! Sincerely and comfort to you all. Jim Falls
