James J.

Amelia Island - James J. " Jimmy" McQuillan III 61 of Savannah, Ga. and Amelia Island, Fl. passed away peacefully at his home on Amelia Island Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2011. A native of Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the late James Joseph McQuillan, Jr. and Emma Grace Snead McQuillan. He graduated from Benedictine Military Academy and enrolled at the University of Florida where he was on the Gator Golf Team winning many awards. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He went to work in the shipping industry and was sales representative for Hanjin Shipping Company for the past twenty years. He was a member of the Hibernian Society of Savannah, the Savannah Golf Club and the Amelia Island Club. He was a member of the Catholic Faith.

He leaves behind, Patt Corbin of Amelia Island, her children, John Corbin, Bridgit Fried Fred, and William Corbin Katie Brown, her grandchildren, who he loved as his own, his closest friends, Karen and Perry Langston, his cousins, James Collins and Sean Collins and Lynn Clanton Palmer Larry and David Clanton.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Catholic Cemetery with Father Patrick O'Brien, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at The Savannah Golf Club.

JImmy and I competed In Golf. He was a very good friend, He had a kind heart but was a tough competitor. Our days at the 'OLD Sheraton' were some of the best in my life as I am sure the birdie maker would agree.Sorry I found Out late about Jimmy's demise.GOD BLESS!
