SAVANNAH – Lloyd Leroy Black, 95, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Savannah. The Birmingham, AL native had lived in Savannah since 1948.
Lloyd retired from Graybar Electric in 1974 as Branch Manager. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder, and had chaired several boards at the church. Lloyd was an avid boater and fisherman and was Past Commander of Tybee Light Power Squadron and Past District Commander of District 26, United States Power Squadron.
Surviving are his two daughters, Barbara B. Wilson of Savannah and Susan B. Rose of Morehead City, NC; his grandchildren, Byron Black, Susan B. Armstrong, Angela Deering, Sharon Clark, Michael Rose, Lisa Barbrey, John Hinton Wilson, and Melissa Rose; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Leroy Hudson Black, and his wife, Betty Hudson Black.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
