Savannah- James Rufus Crews, 89, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Hospice Savannah.
He was born in Screven County and lived in Savannah for most of his life. His parents were the late James and Austin Crews. James was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pauline Dollar Crews.
James retired from Stone Container in 1987. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He and his late wife were very active in local square dancing clubs and served on the Georgia State Board of Directors of Square Dancing. James was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Ron Crews Linda, of Rincon, Georgia, and Greg Crews Pat of Savannah, a step-son, Danny Cochran Susanof Dublin, Georgia, a sister, Grace Cooke, of Albany, Georgia, six grandchildren, Jason and Mark Crews and Adam and Jason Crews, Dawn Jensen and Danny Cochran, Jr., nine great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 22 at 1:00pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 2:30p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
