Winfield C. Smith

Savannah- Winfield C. Smith, 94, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on July 11, 1917 to Montelle C. and Mildred Sucy Smith. Winfield retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Air Force; he earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine and was Senior Vice President of Savannah Electric Power Company. He was a member of the Savannah Yacht Club and St. John's Episcopal Church. His wife, Julia McIver Smith preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph C. Smith of Savannah, John W. Smith Nan of Dalian, China; daughter, Soucy S. Tull John of Savannah; daughter-in-law, Henrietta McNeal Smith of Savannah; grandchildren, Caroline, Hamlin, Julia, and Winfield, II, and one great-grandchild, Winfield, III.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Ft. Craig O'Brien officiating.
