BLUFFTON, SC - William Britt "Kowboy" Campbell, Sr., 83, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
A native of Waycross, GA Bill had lived in Savannah for most of his life. He was a 1949 graduate of Savannah High School and was on the 1946 and 1947 Class-A State Basketball Championship teams. He also served with the Georgia Air National Guard, 117.
Bill coached the Tiger Club of Savannah and was a referee for High School Football for many years.
Bill was a member of the National Home Builders Association for a number of years and was currently the owner of Campbell Business Products.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Sandi Campbell of Bluffton, SC; his children, Bill Campbell, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Kirk Campbell, Pam McCarthy and husband, Cody, and Kerry Campbell and wife, Rosa; grandchildren, Summer, Claire, Britt, Brandon, Mackenzie, Brianna, and Britney; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Verna Campbell and brothers, Walter and John Campbell.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
