Jamie H. Dyson
August 12, 1933 - September 13, 2015
Savannah, GA – Jamie Holmes Dyson, age 82, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born in 1933 in Aynor, SC to Luther Frederick and Mary Butler Dyson. The family moved to Savannah in 1939 and Jamie graduated from Commercial High School in 1954.
He was predeceased by his parents, four siblings, Wilton, Herbert, Joyce and Edythe Dyson. Jamie was baptized at Ardsley Park Baptist Church in June, 1954 and was a member of the Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge # 231. He worked in the electrical supply industry and retired from Port City Electric in 1995. Jamie’s greatest joy was his family; he was dedicated to raising his three sons and supported all of their activities. He loved and enjoyed his four grandchildren.
Jamie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Green Dyson; Sons, Jeffrey Dyson (Carol) of Everett, WA; Drew Dyson (Lisa) of Savannah, GA and Blake Dyson of Alpharetta, GA. Grandchildren, Lance Dyson (Diane) of Seattle, WA; Holly Erickson (Andrew) of Lynnwood, WA; Kyle Dyson of Everett, WA and Ella Dyson of Alpharetta, GA. Brother in Law, Elmer “Buddy” Green (Meta) of Savannah, GA. and multiple nieces and nephews. All will cherish fond memories of Jamie.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Graveside services at Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:00 am. The Reverend Warren “Buddy” Cribb, lifelong friend of Jamie, will officiate.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kathy Chu and Mrs. Chris Keuler for their dedicated medical attention to Jamie as he battled Alzheimer’s.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made in his memory to Hospice Savannah, Inc.; PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or to the charity of your choice.
