James Mashburn Bowen, 73, died October 22, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 15, 1942 in Greenwood, MS and has lived in Savannah for the last 12 years. Jim graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and then a Juris Doctor Degree in 1967.

He began his law career by serving as a clerk to Federal Judge Woodrow Jones in Rutherfordton, NC. He then went on to partnership in the law firm of Hamrick, Bowen, Nanney, Dalton, Mebane and Greenway. He spent the remainder of his forty year career in Rutherfordton before retiring and moving to Savannah.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Bowen; his son Chris and daughter-in-law Catherine; son Patrick and daughter-in-law Michelle; daughter Stephanie and son-in-law John; son Tim; grandchildren Hannah, Preston, Sarah, Sophia, Lula, Sadie; and beloved pet Fluffie.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church preceded by a special musical prelude beginning at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends in Bailey Hall after the service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Music Ministry of Skidaway Island United Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411.
