Dorothy Burden Floyd “Dottie” Weller, 92, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. She was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, daughter of Willie and Mae Fussell Burden. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School and later moved to Savannah in 1946. Mrs. Weller was a former member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church where she had been very active. Recently, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Weller was also a member of the Paxton Heights Garden Club, Savannah Women’s Club, Alee Temple Shrine Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, Optimist Club of Tybee Island, American Business Women and the Savannah Christian Women. Mrs. Weller was preceded in death by her first husband, Wiley Harold Floyd and step-daughter, Mary Carolyn Floyd.
Surviving are her husband Paul L. Weller of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Sonja Floyd Fishkind and Andrew Springer of Savannah; granddaughter, Sarah Wiley Fishkind of Charleston, SC; sister, Abbie Burden of Savannah; brother, Stanley Burden (Barbara) of Hudson, FL; step-son, Raymond Harold “Bucky” Floyd (Shera) of Lyons, GA; grandson, Scott Harold Floyd of Savannah.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be private.
