Amy A. Hill
August 16, 1927 - August 09, 2016
SAVANNAH - Amy Anna Jensen Hill died peacefully in her sleep on August 9, 2016, at Spanish Oaks in Savannah, Georgia. She was born August 16, 1927, in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Tone Heimdahl Jensen of Oslo, Norway and Nels Carl Jensen of Coppenhagen, Denmark. She was united in marriage to Edward Charles Hill on September 10, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Racine. They were married for 67 years.
Amy lived in Racine for most of her adult life before moving with her husband to Savannah, Georgia in 2005. Amy attended high school at William Horlick High, graduating in 1945. She went on to receive her registered nursing degree from Lutheran Deacones in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital for forty years.
Mrs. Hill was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her nursing career, she enjoyed sewing, needle working, quilting, and golfing. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, along with her loving and gentle spirit.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Edward Charles Hill, and all three of her children and their spouses: Kathleen (Brian) Harlander, Savannah, Georgia; David Hill, Madison, Wisconsin; and Robert (Myra) Hill, Savannah, Georgia; along with four loving grandchildren: Dr. Kristine (David) Saudek; Lisa (Timothy) Lemke; Brent (Linsday) Harlander; and Amy Marie Hill. Her eight surviving great-grandchildren are Elizabeth, Benjamin and Andrew Saudek; Charlotte and Edward “Grant” Lemke; and Katherine, Lydia and Charlie Harlander. She is also survived by her siblings Helen (Dick) Jensen Myher, and Reverend Carl (Bev) Jensen. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by three of her siblings, Reverend Louis Jensen, Edward Jensen, and Sue Jensen Hendrickson Ennis.
A family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her memory to Messiah Lutheran Church or The Spanish Oaks Foundation.
