Celebrating the life of

Agnes Marie Patrick West

September 15, 1936 - March 22, 2026

Agnes Marie Patrick West

Agnes Marie Patrick West, 89, peacefully passed to be with Christ from this life on March 22, 2026, to joining her son, Chuck Anthony West, and her grandson, Preston James West. Agnes died at home with her husband of 73 years, Preston “Pat” MacSweeney West, holding her hand.

In 1936, Agnes was born in Dooly, Georgia, to Pernal Nelson Patrick and Pauline Lockerman, who owned a general store. In 1946, her family moved to Savannah, where she attended Commercial High School.

At a Teen Club event in 1949, Agnes met Pat, while as she described it, “playing a game where you danced with the person in front of you when the music stopped.”  Pat tweaked her cheek when he first saw her, and she was enamored.

Agnes was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Temple for 60 years, where she taught Sunday school.  She loved being around her Calvary friends, and her health began to decline when that became more difficult.

In addition to her devoted husband, Pat; Agnes leaves behind her sons, Preston, Rick West (Debbie), and Brian Louis West (Becky); six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, seven nieces, and one nephew.  Agnes was preceded in death by her son, Chuck; her grandson, Jamie; her sisters, Margaret Weathers and Helen Slade; and her brothers, Fred Patrick and Pernal Patrick.

A Celebration of Agnes's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27th at Calvary Baptist Temple.  Visitation will begin at 10:30 am.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Agnes's memory to Calvary Baptist Temple, 4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404.
