Celebrating the life of

Jose Vernon Pascual

August 16, 1961 - August 06, 2025

Jose Vernon Pascual

With the profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Vernon Pascual on August 6, 2025 in Savannah, GA. With his loving family by his side, he came to the end of his journey on earth.

Born in Manila, Philippines on June 16, 1961, he was the 2nd of 3 children of Norman and Anita Pascual. Because of his father’s work, he and his family moved throughout southeast Asia during his childhood immersing in the sites, cultures, and cuisines of Singapore, Indonesia, and Borneo.

In 1980, the family eventually settled in Savannah, GA. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Savannah State University in June 1983.

After receiving a job offer in 1984, he moved to Hazlehurst, GA where his life would transform. He met his future wife, and they had a daughter, Jana (born 1988). In 1989, prompted by a new job offer with Goulds Pumps (where he worked until his retirement in 2024), Vernon and his young family moved back to Savannah. In 1990, their son Jeremy was born.

Vernon was a man of many hobbies from tennis, motorcycles, ping-pong, to shooting, just name a few. He was a gentle soul and built a community of friends wherever he went. He favorite hobby was being a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather (LoLo or PawPaw), and friend. He will be deeply missed, but his memory and joy will live on in us.

He is proceeded in death by his father Norman A. Pascual and his mother Anita B. Pascual. Survivors to cherish his memories are: his wife Liz, his children Jana (Matthew) and Jeremy (Martha), his grandchildren Alistair, Genevieve, and Arlo, his brother Robbie and family, and his sister Carmina.

A celebration of life will be private, In lieu, of flowers, the family requests donations to the J.C. & Nancy Lewis Cancer and Research Pavillion (earmarked for head and neck cancer) or Hospice Savannah.

Condolences and prayers from a Summer 2024 visitor to Savanna Table Tennis Club (while I was briefly assigned to Parris Island, SC). I remember when Vern came back to STTC from a long recuperation. He definitely epitomized the friendliness and strong community joy of your entire club. I can see why he will be greatly missed by all his ping pong friends! May God bless and keep him and his family.

So very sad to hear about this. Vernon and I did much business together, and became personal friends with each other for many years. We shared a love of motorcycles and many other activities. Prayers for comfort and peace.

My deepest condolences. Vern had such a warm and generous spirit, always welcoming and always smiling. He was one of the very first people I met at STTC, and his kindness left a lasting impression. Even during our most competitive games, he brought joy and laughter to every moment. I'll never forget the thoughtful advice he shared with me when our daughter was born. It meant so much and helped shape my journey as a parent. Vern will be deeply missed, but his legacy of warmth and wisdom will live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

- Jon To, Savannah, GA

Dearest Liz, Jana and Jeremy, We are deeply saddened by Kuya Nok's (his Filipino nickname) passing. He was such a wonderful human being. We just loved our time with him and Liz whenever we visit SC. They always made time for us. His love for life was evident in the joyful way he talked about his family, his travels, his hobbies, his experiences and his future plans. He was a courageous and determined soul until the very end, and I quote him say "I have not given up". My last communication with him was August 4 when he told me about cancelling his and Liz's cruise due to the uncertainty of the earthquake in Europe. His smile and kindness will be truly missed. It is so heart-breaking that he was gone too soon. Liz, Jana and Jeremy, please accept our heart-felt condolences for the loss of Kuya Vernon. May you take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, and that his legacy will live on in you, your children and your grandchildren. We love you lots. With love, JP and Rosalie

Vernon was one of those people you met in life that were a true friend. I met him when I started competitive shooting and he was one who showed me the ropes and invited me to more events. He helped me start reloading ammunition and get supplies. The best thing he fought me was what a good friend was. He was always willing to help and he also thru a few jabs at you when you did not shoot well. May all your serves score points and all your shots be alpha Vernon. You will be dearly missed. Rest in peace my brother

- Jeff Jenkins , Savannah , Ga

My deepest condolences. Vernon was a truly good person with an infectious smile. I still remember when we played ping pong until midnight at Savannah Mall, and you said you felt young again. We both grew our skills through the games we played together. I deeply regret not playing with you the last time you came to the club. I thought we still had many chances to play and so did you. You will be missed. Sleep well, Mr. Vernon.

I am so very sorry to know that Verson is gone from here; but he's not gone from our memories. My first contact with Vernon was way back in the Union Camp years. Much later, I met him again in pistol competitions. He was always fun to be around - he knew what he was doing, but still found time to joke and rib. There are so many people who will miss him.
