Celebrating the life of

Irita Newman Love

June 18, 1935 - August 04, 2025

Irita Newman Love

Irita Newman Love had a vibrant life full of love and laughter. She met every moment of everyday with a warm smile, a cast iron skillet full of something wonderful, and a big glass of sweet tea for those who were lucky enough to call her a friend, or mom, or best of all Mema. Her laughter was contagious and her arms were always open. She loved her church, cooking, the beach, and most of all her family. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Love and Mark Love; her daughter-in-law, Beth; six grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Rest in peace Irita. You will be missed.

Sorry to see my friend has passed away. Irita was beautiful inside and out. Many good times with her and Bobby at LaVida. May she Rest in Peace!

I know I'm not alone in sharing how much Aunt Irita meant to me and my family, especially my mom, Patty Love and my girls, Shannon and Hannah McCarthy. She represented home to me and always treated me like a long lost daughter. She and Uncle Bobby were the glue that kept us all together and always made me feel so special and connected to the Love family, especially after we moved to Tampa and I grew up away from Savannah. I always said she was my favorite aunt, which I didn't share with the other aunts, but she felt more like a friend than an aunt. I can't count the number of wonderful memories I have staying with her and staying up talking into the night while sipping on Uncle Bobby's White Zinfandel. Or talking on the phone for way too long, laughing and crying. I know she is with him now and with all her beloved family and friends who have gone ahead of her, including my dear Shannon and Avery. She is with her Lord and Savior, who she loved her whole life and shared that love with those around her. And the Lord said, well done good and faithful servant. We love you and miss you, Aunt Irita. You were our angel on earth.

No truer words tha. Those written above . . . Her laughter, contagious smile, hugs and love will always be remembered. Best Godmother on the planet!

Miss Irita, as I always called her, was one of my mother, Kitty Cobb Elliotts, best life long friends. I have known Irita all of my life. She was such a lovely person inside and out, always sweet and always elegantly poised. She looked so much like my grandmother, we realized that she was our cousin. I did not have the heart to tell mom yet as I believe they will all be reuniting in Heaven in the not too distant future. Love and prayers for the family, especially Mark after all he has been through lately. The picture is of other dear friends Mary Lee, Alice Hodges, mom and Irita taken two and half years ago on moms ninetieth birthday. May Irita rest in peace.
