Celebrating the life of

Patricia Watkins Wells (Patty)

November 08, 2024 - July 29, 2025

Patricia Watkins Wells (Patty)

Born November 8th, 1949 in Bangor, Maine.  Died July 29th, 2025 in Savannah, Georgia.

Patricia Watkins Wells, called “Patty” by friends and family, passed away in hospital in Savannah Georgia on the evening of 29 June, following a brief period of increasingly poor health following the death of her husband, Charlie, known to all as “Peaches”.  She passed in the company of her beloved son, Charles, and nephew Jamie Wisner.

Patty was a homemaker who also worked for many years as an assistant at Saint Mary’s Home, serving the church and the community in helping children in need of fostering.

However, Patty was better defined and remembered by the things she loved.

She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband and his lifelong companion of nearly 54 years.  She was a loving mother to her sons, Kevin and Charles.

She had a lifelong love of reading, which she passed to her children at an early age.  A favorite of hers were the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder.  She loved American history and watching shows about the American Revolution and the Civil War.  She loved old Westerns.  She had seen every episode of Gunsmoke…twice.  She loved reading the National Enquirer, one of her “trash magazines”.

She loved her precious pets, each in turn:  Brandy, Mimi, Noelle, and, finally, Angel.

But, at her core, she loved her husband, Peaches.  (She never uttered the name Charlie.)  A native of Georgia (hence his nickname), she was the “Savannah Girl” to whom he was introduced on the last day of 1969, at a New Year’s celebration at Randolf Air Force Base, Texas.  They spent the next 53 years together.  She loved to travel together in their RV.  They travelled often to Civil War battlefields.

For 51 years he took care of her.  For his last two, she took care of him.  She never recovered from his loss; now she misses him no more.

But we miss her.

Patty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Miok Wells, currently of Pyeongtaek, Republic of Korea, son and daughter-in-law Charles and Aya Wells, of Savannah, Georgia, granddaughter, Fiona Wells, of Kailua, Hawaii, grandson, Wyman Wells, of Pyeongtaek, Korea, her sisters Genie and Dorothy, her brothers Bill and Barry, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Fox & Weeks Islands Chapel. The Burial will will immediately follow the service at the Cathoic Cemetery.

GUEST BOOK

My wife Anne worked for St. Mary's home for a bit after she graduated from college, in the early 1990's. That began our long association with St. Mary's Home and the amazing people who care for the children who lived there. That's where we got to know Patty & Peaches. A nicer couple you couldn't meet; their devotion to each other, and the kids at St. Mary's, was always obvious. We would run into them occasionally in later years, on the weekends, in Richmond Hill, but had not seem either of them in a while. I am sorry to learn today of their passing into spirit, but glad that we got to know them the little bit that we did. They made a huge impact, if a quiet one, on many people's lives. And we are all the better for it.
