Celebrating the life of
Joy Fletcher Fuller
April 16, 1951 - July 21, 2025

With sadness and great gratitude for her life, the family of Joy Fletcher Fuller announces her passing on July 21, 2025. She will be remembered as a much loved wife, mother and ‘Mimi’.
Born in the tight-knit Rye Patch community of Long County, Joy was the youngest child of Mildred Herbert and J. Winson Fletcher. Upon her arrival into this world, her father chose the name Joy as she was his “bundle of joy.” She dutifully lived up to her name. Joy attended Ludowici High School and later studied secretarial skills at Armstrong State College. Her vocation prepared her for work at the Liberty County Probate Courthouse, Coastal Utilities, Southeastern Maritime Shipping, and as manager of the Fuller Oldsmobile Body Department.
In retirement, Joy volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society and was a proud member of Ladies on the Right. Two years after taking up golf, she was ranked Most Improved Golfer coming as no surprise to anyone who knew her tenacity. Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren who will continue her legacy of spreading joy.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 48 years, W.G. Fuller Jr; her daughters, Jill Woolfolk and Kristan Fuller; and a stepson, Gaines Jonakin (Lori); and her three treasured granddaughters, Caroline Joy Woolfolk, Mary Grace Zeigler, and Zoe Jonakin.
Joy was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her sister, Ann Groover; and a son-in-law, Edmund W. Woolfolk, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Ada. F Smiley (Bob); brothers, Joe Fletcher (Dianne), Tom Fletcher (Jane), and Jimmy Fletcher (Linda); along with a large and loving circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Skidaway Island Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
