Celebrating the life of
Margaret Ann Hiers
September 30, 1965 - June 25, 2025

Margaret Ann Hiers, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 30, 1965, at Candler Hospital in Savannah to Mr. and Mrs. William (Bill) R. Hiers.
Margaret lived a full, joyful, and accomplished life. A proud 1984 graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School, she defied limitations and proved that her disability would never define her. She worked with dedication and pride at CCDS for 34 years, where she was known for her strong work ethic, cheerful spirit, and loving heart.
She was honored with the Night of Champions Award in recognition of her outstanding work, and she proudly won a gold medal in swimming at the 1995 Special Olympics in Connecticut—an achievement she cherished.
Margaret loved music, dancing, her work, and spending time with friends. Her radiant joy and spirited personality touched everyone she met. She will be remembered for her determination, infectious smile, and her deep love for life.
She was preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Hiers, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Reekstin of Portsmouth, VA, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hiers of Savannah, GA.
She is survived by her beloved mother Norma Hiers; her loving sister, Barbara H. Bacon (Russ); nieces Kristenia Livingston (Jonathan) and Erika Thornton (Trey); nephews Matthew, Cameron, Wilder, and Arlo; as well as many beloved cousins and friends who were like family to her.
Margaret’s life was a shining example of courage, joy, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
