Celebrating the life of
Barbara Todd Stahl
February 16, 1926 - June 06, 2025

Barbara Todd Stahl passed away peacefully at the age of 99, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving. Born on February 16, 1926, in Fanwood, New Jersey, Barbara lived a long and meaningful life rooted in service, family, and joy.
From a young age, Barbara knew she wanted to be a nurse—and she made that dream come true, working at Muhlenberg Hospital during World War II, offering care and comfort when the world needed it most.
At 21, she married the love of her life, Alan Stahl, and the two of them went on to share 78 full and happy years together. They built a life centered on love, laughter, and togetherness—a legacy continued by their two children, Todd Alan Stahl of Savannah, GA, and Susan Stahl Dober, married to Vincent Stanley Dober III, also of Savannah.
Barbara's pride and joy was her family. She beamed when talking about her grandchildren—Meghan, Cameron, and Samuel Dober of Sandy Springs, GA. She was a doting aunt to her nephew, Mark Schindler of Vermont, and nieces Virginia Livingston of Arizona, Carol Albers of New Jersey, and Cynthia Jamison-Marcy of Illinois.
Barbara had a servant’s heart. Over the years, she volunteered her time and talents at the Bradford United Church of Christ, the Bradford Library, and the local hospital through the AT&T Pioneers, gently testing newborns' hearing. She was always there at the famous Wild Game Supper—usually working behind the scenes, making sure things went off without a hitch.
She had a quiet, creative spirit—loved to dig in her garden, refinish a good piece of furniture, lose herself in a book, or just sit on the back porch soaking up the view. In her younger years, she painted, did yoga before it was trendy, and traveled far and wide with Alan and dear friends.
At 75, she and Alan became snowbirds, splitting their time between Vermont and Savannah, GA, where they were deeply woven into the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Barbara lived a life full of kindness, grace, and endless energy. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. If you needed help, she was there—with a smile, a listening ear, and often, a homemade meal.
Her legacy—of service, love, hard work, and boundless generosity—lives on in all of us lucky enough to have known her.
She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
A celebration of Barbara and Alan’s lives will be held at a future date in the hills of Vermont—the place she always held close to her heart.
Our deepest condolences to you. A long life well lived. Prayers for the repose of her soul and strength and comfort for all.

Barbara was truly one of the loveliest lady's I've ever met. Both her and her husband were so kind and sweet to everyone. I never saw her when she wasn't happy to see me and treated me like a relative. Wonderful people.
