Celebrating the life of
Patsy Chafin Foster
February 28, 1942 - February 23, 2025

Patsy Chafin Foster, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on February 28, 1942, to Lena Sisk Kessler and William Howard Chafin, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in passing by her brother, William Davis Chafin, and her husbands, Anthony F. Foster, William Aiken, and Ronald Mathis.
Patsy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Terri Foster Carter, her cherished grandson, Walter Anthony Carter, and her two precious great-grandchildren, Jackson Anthony Carter and Emery Nicole Carter.
A woman of many talents and passions, Patsy had an entrepreneurial spirit that shone through in all she did. In the late 1960s, she started a catering business, later finding her true calling as a floral designer. She owned several beloved flower shops in Savannah, including locations in Garden City, Medical Arts, and Waters Avenue. Her artistic touch and love for flowers brought joy to countless weddings, celebrations, and remembrances.
After selling her business, she moved to Hilton Head Island, where she expanded her talents into interior design while continuing her freelance floral work. Her compassionate nature led her to a later career caring for Alzheimer’s patients, where she provided not only physical care but also love, companionship, and dignity to those in need. Even in retirement, her creative spirit remained, as she ran the flower and gift shop at the Tybee Island IGA, where she formed many lasting friendships.
Patsy’s resilience and strength were unmatched. Despite facing numerous health challenges, including time in a wheelchair and multiple injuries, she never lost her determination to keep going. Her unwavering spirit earned her the nickname, “The Comeback Queen.” However, even her remarkable strength could not overcome the strokes that ultimately took her life.
In her later years, she found great joy in her church, New Beginnings Community Church in Richmond Hill, where she attended as often as possible with her lifelong best friend, Ron Farrer. Though she always longed for a large family, she found that love and connection through Ron and his family, who embraced her as one of their own.
Patsy’s impact on this world is immeasurable, and she will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, February 28, 2025, at noon, on what would have been her 83rd birthday, at New Beginnings Community Church in Richmond Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Savannah Hospice, whose compassionate care in her final days provided comfort not only to Patsy but also to her loved ones.
Patsy Chafin Foster was a force of nature—fearless, stubborn, and amazing in every way. Her legacy of love, strength, and creativity will never be forgotten.
She touched so many lives and I am grateful she touched mine.

I had the honor to meet Ms. Pat through New Beginnings Community Church where we just hit it off. On occasions, we would get to talk about life...we would laugh and sometimes even cry. I found a friend in Ms. Pat and I will surely miss her. But I took know that she now sits by her father and I couldn't have a better angel looking after me. Keep them straight Ms. Pat. I love you.

Chafin Cousins were so lucky to have one another all these years, with 16 of us starting out! Patsy was the last WWII baby and I was the first post WWII. Patsy was always the life of the reunions, and never a dull moment existed when she told a story or mimicked a relative--she was a natural clown, and we will miss her joy forever! Godspeed, my cuz! Those who love God never meet for the last time!

Ms Pat was a joy to be with. Always kept the laughter going. She worked with my mom and dad at Ramelles Florist. I had the pleasure of working with her during the holidays after I acquired the florist. She always had a positive outlook. I will miss her. Love and prayers to the family.
