Celebrating the life of

Leonard B. Wittfeld, Jr.

Passed away on September 19, 2023

Leonard B. Wittfeld, Jr.

Leonard Bradstreet Wittfeld, Jr. was born on  October 25, 1955, and died on September 19, 2023, at Candler Hospital.    He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard B.Wittfeld, Sr., and Ann Wittfeld Doddridge, and his oldest sister, Peggy Wittfeld Jackson.

Brad was born in Savannah, Ga, the youngest and only boy, with four older sisters.  His sisters always had his back from the day he was born, He lived his entire life on his beloved Isle of Hope.  He loved salt water fishing and hunting in his earlier days and always had a story to tell about the one that got away,   He was a kind man who was always willing to help anyone in need.

He spent his entire career at the Georgia Ports Authority and retired from the Local ILA  1475 in 2022.  He loved rescuing cats  and giving them love and attention.  His fur babies were his extended family.

Brad is survived by his son, Leonard B, Wittfeld, III, and his granddaughter, Liliana Wittfeld.

Also, his sisters, Shirley Wittfeld Teeple, Judy Wittfeld Schoch, and Nancy Wittfeld Montford, and many nieces and nephews.

And, finally,  his cats, who liked nothing better than being right by his side.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Brad was truly, one of a kind. He was a neighbor and a good friend. Brad was always there to help. Whenever a hurricane or tropical storm was coming Brad would bring over a generator, without being asked. I could always count on Brad. Tough and gruff on the outside, he was a caring gentle soul inside. I’m proud to have been Brad’s friend!

So very sorry to hear about Brad’s passing. He and I went all the way through school together and had many good times growing up on Isle of Hope. I never could figure out when I spent the night with him why we had to go frog gigging in the school yard at four or five in the morning when I would rather have been sleeping but that was Brad. Had many wonderful camping and hunting trips with him throughout the years. He was a true friend and will be greatly missed. God Bless your families. Buddy Bacon
