Celebrating the life of

Alan C. Yovich

Passed away on September 14, 2023

Alan C. Yovich

Alan C Yovich, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 14, 2023

Alan was born in Union City, PA to Dan and Verna (Shayko) Yovich. Alan graduated from Union City Area High School in 1964. After graduation, Alan joined the Marine Corp and proudly served his country in Vietnam as an E5 Sergeant. Alan became a pharmacist, receiving his degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for several pharmacies, including CVS until his retirement. Alan also owned a pharmacy in Kingsville, Ohio for several years with his wife Pat. In 2009, Alan and Pat discovered the Savannah area and made the decision to move there to escape the brutal Ohio winters. They moved to Savannah soon thereafter and have remained there since.

Alan always enjoyed cars, boating, and travel. In his retirement, Alan was active with the Marine Corps League and served on the board of the Savannah Navy League of the United States. He was a role model for so many of the enlisted men and women. He enjoyed presenting awards for their service, especially to the drill instructors at Parris Island.

Alan is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Evanson) Yovich; mother, Verna; sister, Andrea (Larry) Darnofall;  brother, Kevin Yovich;  stepson, Monty (Kelly) Koonse; stepdaughter, Sherry A. (Scott) Nelson; grandson, Corey Yovich;  nephew, Shane Darnofall;  step-granddaughters, Ava and Grace Parnell; and his best buddy, Dexter. Alan was preceded in death by his father and his son, Peter Alan Yovich.

Calling hours will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1745 Benton Blvd, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church followed by Color Guard and Honors Ceremony at the church.
