Celebrating the life of
Linda Gail Dickey
September 22, 1943 - June 14, 2023

Linda Gail Dickey, 79, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2023 at home in Copperas Cove, Texas surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with illness.
She was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 22, 1943 to John and Hilda Dickey. Linda was the youngest of seven children. Linda attended Georgia Southern University and later worked for The Corps of Engineers and Department of Defense for 42 years before retiring in 2007 as a GS13 Budget Officer at Ft. Cavazos (Hood).
Linda had a love for travel. She enjoyed spending time each year watching and photographing wildlife. Some of her favorites were the black bears of Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. She loved wildflowers, especially bluebonnets found in her home state of Texas. She enjoyed spending time each year in Port Aransas where she loved watching the sunset, whooping cranes and the dolphins play.
She is survived by her loving companion of 36 years, Chong Kim, her sister Mary Smith and numerous nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Linda’s honor.
Private funeral services will be held.
Linda and I have been good friends since the 1960s. She was so much fun to be around & loved to travel and go to Casinos. I'll always remember the good times we had together and will miss her dearly. My heart goes out to Kim and her family.

My heart is heavy, one of my best friends is gone. Way back in the day we bought fresh peas and corn, shucked the corn, shelled the peas and threw them both in the same pot to cook! That was only one of the fun things we all did. When I needed a friend she and Kim were there for me. Linda I love you and will truly miss you! See ya later!

Linda was a “one of a kind” friend. She always had a smile on her face. To say she loved Cades Cove is an understatement as she traveled each year from Texas to Tennessee to go to Cades Cove. I will miss my friend dearly but I know she is at peace. Rest In Peace my dear friend - I will watch the bears for you. Kim, I pray that God will wrap his arms around you and your family during this time of sorrow.

I will miss you old friend! No more picking up the phone and calling you day or night. I loved the time you lived with Shirley and me. I remember every night we would have to look in every closet, under every bed, and in every room in the house, and also make certain all doors were locked. Some days we never even went out of the house of unlocked the doors but we still had that crazy ritual that had to be followed. My condolences to Kimmy, Mary and the Dickey family and the Kim family.

Linda and I became very close friends after we both retired from Fort Hood. How to describe her? Forthright, stubborn, opinionated, hilarious, softhearted and loyal. Linda, I will miss you and my travels with you and Kim and our many conversations. My deepest sympathies go to Kim and your other family.
