Celebrating the life of

Judith (Judy) Leaptrot

Passed away on May 16, 2023

Judith (Judy) Leaptrot

Judith (Judy) Leaptrot, 67, died May 16,2023, after a short illness, surrounded by her family and friends.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Franklin Delano Yelton and Betty Rebecca Wall. She is survived by her sister Robin Tarvin; brother-in-law, Michael Tarvin; niece, Renee Hill; great nieces, Zoe, Chloe, and Ceara Morris; and her dog, Blossom.

Her friends and family will remember her for her adventurous spirit, energetic disposition, and her passion for living life to its fullest. She lived a compassionate and creative life and held a deep appreciation for music, teaching, and nature.

Judy’s love of music began when she sang her first solo at five years old. She enjoyed attending various musical events, from the symphony and the opera to rock and jazz concerts. This passion led her to pursue a career as a choral director and a private piano teacher.

After over 30 years of teaching, she retired as choral director from Coastal Middle School. Her devotion and care impacted many students during and after their time in her classroom.

Her love of nature extended from the mountains where she spent her childhood and college years to the rivers and marshes of Savannah, where she lived for over 40 years. She spent every summer hiking and camping in the Blue Ridge mountains that she loved so dearly.

On most nights she could be found on her porch watching the sunset in awe; her spirit now soars with that light and has been welcomed home.

We cherish all the memories we have – all the love, knowledge, and wisdom she brought to our lives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 in Greenwich Cemetery.
