To the Lentz and Broderick families, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Betty. Although I never met her, in many ways I feel as if I knew her and the rest of your family intimately. You see, my ex-husband and I bought the old Broderick family bungalow on East 52nd Street in 1976. Once we had settled in an elderly neighbor gave me the name of the man who built it, Ed Broderick, and said that he owned a plumbing company downtown. They also told me that Mr. Broderick died at a young age and left behind a wife and several children to live in the house that he had completed in 1929. After seeing the notice of Betty’s passing I now realize that my home was the house where she and her siblings spent their childhood years. I made the connection when I saw the photo of her in her wedding dress taken in front of the fireplace in the Broderick house, a setting that I was very familiar with from the 20+ years that I made that place my home. I wish that I had been able to connect with Betty and the rest of you before now but I do hope that once the family has had time to grieve and come to terms with such a great loss that you will contact me to reminisce. May her memory be a comfort to all of you. Susan Wainwright suznfused@yahoo.com

Please accept my condolences in the death of your Mother, Grandmother. Great Grandmother, and the list goes on. She wore many hats in her family. She was one of my cousins. The first wedding I ever attended was between Betty and Harry. I remember it fondly. May God bless those she left behind and may she rest in God's peace forever. I just recently heard of her death, so forgive my late response. Cousin

I was so sad to learn of Betty’s passing. I called her a few years ago to tell her how much I appreciated her caring and guidance while I was a student at Memorial. She was a great teacher and mentor and friend. She and Harry were so devoted to each other. I pray for comfort and peace for the family. I remember some of you when you were children.

To Betty’s family, I’m so sorry to hear of her death. Betty loved her family, and she loved her profession. I was honored to be able to be under her direction in the lab at Memorial. I will remember her always, fondly.

Tim, I just heard of your sweet mother's passing. I had been one of her caregivers this year (& she had been my dad's neighbor growing up). I am so very sorry she has passed! I loved her so much & all the incredible times I had with her while being able to help take care of her. I am very sad too & know her passing is the greatest of losses for your family. Many, many prayers, she was truly my friend.
