Arthur "Corky" Fleming Jr

April 16, 1947 - May 15, 2023

Arthur Thomas “Corky” Fleming, Junior passed away May 15 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Corky was born April 16, 1947 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Arthur Thomas Fleming (of Thunderbolt, GA) and Martha Sancken Fleming (of Augusta, GA). He attended Blessed Sacrament School and Benedictine Military School. He graduated from Georgia Military College in 1965. He married Gertrude “Trudy” Parsons June 15, 1968 and vowed that he could only promise her that “life would never be boring." The two experienced many adventures and made many special, lifelong friends while living in Athens, GA, Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Decatur, GA, and Newnan, GA before settling back at home in Savannah, GA.

Corky was a member of many community organizations throughout his life. He was a past member of the Gridiron Society. He was a member of The Lions Club and the Men’s Club of St. George’s Parrish in Newnan, GA. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church as well. He proudly celebrated his Scottish heritage as a member of the St. Andrew’s Society and his Irish heritage as a member of the Hibernian Society and Irish Heritage Society.

Corky is survived by his loving and doting wife of nearly 55 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Fleming; his daughters Carole Foran (Chris); Megan Siddel (Darryl); and Katie Brunson (Patrick) and his grandchildren; John Thomas Foran, McKinley Foran, Michael Siddel, Matthew Siddel, Ryan Brunson, Charlie Brunson, and Reid Brunson. He is also survived by his sisters; Sandy Pinckney of Wilmington, NC; and Shirley Humphries of Savannah, GA. Corky had many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, July 28 5-7pm with a Rosary at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 29 at 11am. All services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in The Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Blessed Sacrament School or Benedictine Military School.
