Celebrating the life of

James Allen "Jimmy" Hiers

Passed away on April 29, 2023

James Allen

James Allen Hiers (Jimmy), 61 quietly lost his extended battle with cancer on Saturday, April 29, 2023.  He was attended with loving care by his dedicated mother, Nancy.  He has transitioned to be with his Savior and to be with his beloved father, Gene, and other departed relatives who preceded him.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by close uncles and aunts, numerous cousins, and friends too many to list.

Jimmy graduated from Johnson High School and was blessed with innate mechanical and mathematical skills.  He mastered multiple vocations to include small engine repair, pipe fitting/plumbing (local 188 union), master carpenter/home builder, boat maintenance/rigger, and commercial fisherman.  He was a handy man to have around and was a valued co-worker with Dale Arledge Plumbing, and later with Claude Sheen at the Boat Shed.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating in his earlier years and spent much his adult life living at his treasured Shellman Bluff overlooking White Chimney Creek, spending time with family and friends.  He attended Shellman Bluff Baptist Church, where he grew closer to the Lord.

The family is grateful for the dedicated services of Hospice Savannah.

The Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

I have great memories of growing up with Jimmy and the Hiers family. Always my greatest friend ❤. Prayers for Nancy and family. Godspeed... no more pain. Till we meet again.

Dear Nancy, We love you so much and wish we could take away your pain, but that is not possible. You have always inspired us, and you have always done so much for everyone, including our family. Please consider coming to stay with us for a while--just to clear your head and decompress. I could also take you to Mexico. All of our love is with you and the whole Hiers clan. -- Jill, Peter & Hayes

Nancy my sister was sad to hear about the passing of your son. Our condolences go out to the entire family.
