Celebrating the life of

Michael Patrick Henneberry

February 05, 1951 - April 26, 2023

Michael Patrick Henneberry

Michael Patrick Henneberry, 72, died after a long battle with kidney disease on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Michael was born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, the oldest son of Richard and Vera Henneberry.  After his family returned to the US when Michael was age 12, he resided in Yorktown Heights and attended Lakeland public schools. He received his AAS from Rockland Community College and went on to receive his B.S. from Mercy College, and his master's degree from Long Islasand University.  He was honorably discharged from the Army where he served as an MP in Viet Nam.  He spent his career as a police officer with the Westchester County Police where he received the Combat Cross in 1979.  He retired from the WCP in 1999 as a lieutenant.  He and his wife retired and moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1999.

He married his wife Nancy in 1982 who survives at home.  He was a great lover of dogs and over the years opened his home to many rescue dogs.  He was a fan of the Savannah Bananas.  He will be remembered dearly for his very witty sense of humor.

Services will be private at the family's discretion and are being made by Fox and Weeks of Savannah.  In lieu of flowers, family suggests that you consider a donation in Michael's memory to Best Friends, an animal rescue.  Donations can be mailed to Best Friends, P.O. Box 567, Kanab, Utah  84741-0567.
