Celebrating the life of
Georgianna Sharpe Sommerset
November 10, 1941 - April 23, 2023
Georgianna Sharpe Sommerset, affectionately known as “Hook”, transitioned to be with the Lord on April 23, 2023. She was born in Vidalia, Georgia on November 10, 1941 to Lucille and Charlie Sharpe Jr. When she was a young woman, she moved to Savannah, Georgia with her mother, and graduated from Beach High School. She attended 2 years of college at Savannah State College.
On April 15, 1962 she married Benjamin Sommerset, and from this union two daughters were born. Georgianna worked in the field of mental health with “The Open Door Program”, and later “Tidelands”. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, Benjamin Sommerset on October 1, 2014, and her brother, Hilton Sharpe. Georgianna is a member of The Resurrection Of Our Lord Catholic Church, where she attended until her health began to diminish. Georgianna loved her family and loved decorating and entertaining.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, three grandsons, a great granddaughter, a maternal first cousin, two sisters-in-law, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Robert Cheney officiating.
