Nancy Courtenay Collins, 65, of Savannah, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Nancy was a native of Savannah and was born October 15, 1957, daughter of the late Charles Maurice Courtenay and Margaret Ubele Courtenay. She was a devout catholic and a communicator of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Nancy was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy class of 1975. She attended Tampa College and graduated in 1982. Nancy worked for Dr. Richard Schulze Sr. at Schultz Eye and Surgery Center for many years, and went on to work for the Georgia Eye Institute of the Southeast until 2019.

She is survived by her husband, James J. “Jimmy” Collins Jr.; stepmother, Cecilia Courtenay, and her son, Alex Elliott (Danielle), and grandson, Cooper Elliott; stepson, James J. “Jim” Collins III; sisters and brother, Brenda Courtenay Stewart (Sonny), Anne Courtenay Kelly, Chuck Courtenay (Vickie), Maureen Courtenay O’Brien (Tom) and Helen Courtenay Selman (Scott); stepsisters, Kathleen Leonard Hall (Buddy), Cecilia Leonard, Leslie Leonard Singer (Benton) Moira Leonard  Sherrill (Jackson), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank nurse, Linda Ooms for her kind and compassionate care during Nancy’s final months of her life.

The visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00, Thursday, April 20, 2023, with a 6:30 Rosary at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00, Friday, April 21, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will be at Greenwich Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donation in memory of Nancy Courtenay Collins to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice Savannah, or Adoption Law Office of Birney O’Brien Bull.
