EDWARD RICHARD HEISER                                                            1935-2023

Edward Richard Heiser passed away on April 5, 2023 at the age of 88.  He was born on March 17, 1935 in NYC.  Ed spent most of his youth in Cincinnati, OH where he attended Withrow High School.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Edward Heiser, his beloved son, Gregory Allen Heiser, and his brother, Bill Heiser.

Ed was a graduate of Columbia University, NYC, where he was President of his fraternity, Sigma Chi. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane Petty Heiser in 1957 and served the following 2 years in the United States Marine Corps as an officer.  His 35-year business career spanned 5 companies, 3 of which he served as President.

In 1996, Ed and Jane moved to The Landings on Skidaway Island, Savannah, GA   where he devoted his time to volunteering and golf.  He pursued his 2 passions:  CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) where he worked with abused and neglected children, and performing magic every Friday morning at the Memorial Children’s’ Hospital where he was fondly known as “Mr. Ed, The Magic Man”.  In 2020 Ed and Jane moved to the Marshes of Skidaway with their 2 dogs, Molly and Missy,

Ed and Jane divided their time between Savannah and Green Lake, WI.  They enjoyed many family gatherings at their lake home, and Ed continued doing magic both for grandchildren, friends and at a camp for underprivileged children.

Ed leaves to cherish his life and memory his loving wife of 65 years, Jane, their 2 children Christopher (Magda) Heiser of Chicago, IL, and Jennifer (Steve) Gullickson of Minneapolis, MN, and their daughter-in-law, Susan Heiser, Chicago, Illinois as well as eight grandchildren Nick, Katie, Geoff, Jonah, Kyle, Jon, Jake and Chloe and his brothers Rich (Jane) Heiser and Bob (Sharon) Heiser as well as his sister-in-law, Sandy Heiser.

My heart is crying with yours. You are in my prayers. May God enfold you in his loving arms and help you through this very difficult time of grieving. With love and sympathy, Marolyn Overton

I just want to share my heart felt condolences with the family. Ed was one of the most genuine, kindest, giving, heartfelt gentleman I know! I met him from the magic club, and from day one I cherished him with all my heart! ❤ I was so new to magic and being the only woman in the club at that time and not living on the island, he took me under his wings. He had the most beautiful warming smile of any soul I know. My favorite part of going to the meetings was to see his smile. He was like the grandpa I never had, and he wanted me to be successful, and was so genuinely interested in my accomplishments. He loved that I used puppets to teach kids, along with learning magic, and was so excited to give me 2 of his puppets because he felt like they would go to someone who would use them. I will cherish them forever!! When I moved to KY last year, one of the things I regret was not getting to tell him goodbye. I dont ever read the emails hardly from the magic club, but I knew for some reason when this email just came in I had to open it, and it was the one I just read sharing of his passing. I knew before I even read it that that was going to be why. I know God knew how much I loved him and was so grateful for the kindness he shared to me while I was there, learning and growing that I would want to know. I'm grateful for the spirit prompting me to open up the email, or I would have never known, and that would have broke my heart. I can remember the first meeting I went to, and after it was over, talking and laughing with him like I'd known him forever, he was sooooo special, I just knew I was in the presence of one of God's precious spirits here on earth! He knew I was clueless on how to get back out off of the island to go home, and it was dark and he told me to follow him and he would lead me out. That's just the kind of gentlemen and caring soul he was! I loved hearing of his summers and sharing with the boys club, you just don't get any better than Ed, and I will be eternally grateful to have met him and shared in that season of his life!! If there is anything I could ever do for the family in his honor please let me know!! God gained back an angel with his passing! I will keep the family in my prayers that you will be lifted up and given strength to do all you need to do to prepare and work through whatever needs to be done!! Thank you so much for sharing my dear friend Ed with us!! Prayers from the heart, September Cardiff 912-323-4134
