Celebrating the life of

Martha Dotson Cason Laughlin

June 08, 1927 - March 26, 2023

Martha Dotson Cason Laughlin

Martha Dotson Cason Laughlin went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

The Savannah native was born to the late Albert Dotson, Sr.  and Doris Green Dotson on June 8, 1927, along with her twin sister Margaret D. Jones.  Martha was a 1946 graduate of Commercial High School.

After graduation, Martha was employed for 27 years by General Plywood Corporation, which later became Georgia Pacific Corporation.  She began her career in traffic, and later held the position of Secretary to the General Manager.  Martha was a longtime member of Pooler First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 15 years to the Ladies Bible Class.  She later joined and became an active member of Bull Street Baptist Church in Savannah.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by a son, John A Cason, Jr.; husband, William J. Laughlin, Jr.; twin sister, Margaret D. Jones; and two brothers, Albert S. Dotson, Jr. and Frank Lewis Dotson.

Martha is survived by her faithful and loving daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Cason Flemming and Tim Flemming, both of Savannah; brother, Richard A. Dotson of Pooler; and all of her sweet nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Martha’s caregivers, Deborah Liggins and Penny Brown for the extraordinary care given to Martha during her illness.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Calvin Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest that you consider a donation in Martha's memory to Bull Street Baptist Church, 1400 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401, or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

Namcy and family, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Margaret. I have fond memories of her and your dad as they were the two people we met and became friends with when we moved to this area in 1977, as a matter of fact we bought their house and have had a wonderful experience with them and all of your other family members. She was always willing to help my wife with things in our settling here and we too became members of Pooler First Baptist Church. She will be missed by many but we know that she has moved on to bigger and better things in her journey in life. She leaves a legacy that will be remmebered for quite some time. I now pray tha God will pour oiut a double blessing of His love on the family and comfort them in their time of need and their rejoisccing in knowing where Mrs. Margaret is today.
