Celebrating the life of
George (Woods) Lawrence Miller, III
Passed away on March 26, 2018
George (Woods) Lawrence Miller, III passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Doll) Miller. They shared 45 years of marriage together.
Born in Atlanta, GA on September 19, 1951, he was the son of George (Woody) Miller, Jr. and Ann Goodrich. He grew in up in Germantown, Pennsylvania and attended Chestnut Hill Academy. He graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he met his wife. He graduated with a degree in accounting and served as a CPA until he found his passion for mental health. In 1996, he graduated from Georgia School of Professional Psychology specializing in clinical psychology and counseling.
Woods truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; walking his dogs, spending time with his family, exercising and eating ice cream. He loved to travel and visited far-flung places around the world, but equally enjoyed sitting on his own back porch with a nice cigar. He will be remembered for his kind-heartedness, his selflessness and his love for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Woods is survived by his wife, Doll; his sister, Susie Doody of Raleigh, NC; his daughters, Jenny Bromley (Tyler) and Betsy von Trapp (Jake); and his five grandchildren: Emma Bromley, Liza Grace Bromley, Brooks Bromley, Isabella von Trapp and Jack von Trapp, as well as countless patients whose lives were improved and enriched under his care.
There will be an outdoor memorial service held on Saturday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium at 30 Ocean Science Circle, Savannah, GA officiated by Rev. Enoch Hendry. To help celebrate his life, the family request friends wear green and black Eagles attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
Offering our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Miller family. May the love of family and friends as well as the words at “Psalm 147:3” and “John 5:28,29” continue to help you get through this most difficult times.

I have never know anyone to take as much pleasure in planning something with someone else's pleasure in mind, as he did in planning his gifts for you. My love and prayers are with you. Carolyn

Woods helped me through so much. A kind man who was accepting of others which allowed them to heal and move forward with their lives. Sage advice, a gentle approach, a warm hug and an ear for listening were just a few of his gifts. I will miss him so much as I know all who read will. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us. May peace be with you and may your pain return to joy.

Woods was one of the kindest and sweetest souls I’ve known. He could get anyone to open up and was one of the easiest people to talk to. He helped my sons, and myself, through a very difficult time.
