Celebrating the life of
Terry J. Thompson, Sr.
October 25, 1948 - March 24, 2023
Terry J. Thompson, Sr., 74, died peacefully in his home on Friday, March 24, 2023, with his wife, Janet, at his side.
Terry was born in Savannah, Georgia to Johnnie and Doris (Ahern) Thompson. Terry was the second eldest of four children. In 1982, Terry married Janet (Clay) Thompson at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church. Terry was a loving father to four sons: Joe, Brian, Jeremy, and Andy and a doting grandfather. He spent his life in Savannah, working as a master carpenter. Terry enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and football.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Johnnie; brother and sister, Alan Thompson and Diane Robbins; and a son, Thomas “Brian” Thompson.
Terry is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons, Joe, Jeremy (Kelly), and Andy (Jane) grandchildren; Lucas, Logan, Claire, Caroline, Dean, and Grace; and his sister, Jan Thompson Dillon.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The committal service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 in the Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire https://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/.
