Celebrating the life of
Douglas O. Wilson
Passed away on March 24, 2023
Douglas Orion Wilson, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home with his wife by his side. He was the definition of a hard worker and provider for his family. He started his career path in the Air Force in the 38th Air Division, and soon after, followed in his father’s footsteps by working at a papermill. He did this at Continental Can in Augusta, GA for 30 years working the swing shift. After retiring, he just couldn’t relax at home- he was ready to start a second career at Bass Pro at the Savannah Mall. There, he worked as an associate for 15 years in the fishing department. He met many new people and enjoyed his work family- who celebrated his birthday every year with a cake. He truly retired at the age of 82. Mr. Doug, as he was known, was a quiet man overall but loved cordial exchanges with many people. Not to forget one of his strongest loves, Cocoa, his Pomeranian, who passed at 14 years old, a few years ago. He will celebrate being with her, again.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Wilson of Savannah, his brother Daryl (spouse: Joy) of Macon, his children Robert, Vickie (spouse: Jim), and Tyler, his stepchildren Mike (spouse: Beth) and Jane, his grandchildren Derrick, Nichole, Christin, Coby, Andy, Chloe, Bentley, Kinsey, Todd, Heather, Destinee, Shaelan, his great-grandchildren Brayden, Gracie, Wyatt, Joey, and several nieces and nephews throughout Georgia and his wife from his previous marriage, Linda Wilson of Statesboro.
