Celebrating the life of

Cheryl Lynn Johnson Lanier

Passed away on March 03, 2023

Cheryl Lynn Johnson Lanier

Cheryl Lynn (Johnson) Lanier, 68, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, after a long illness. She is preceded in death by Mark Lanier, her beloved husband of 28 years. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Gonzalez, and son-in law, Apolinar Gonzalez, her sisters, Patty Cooper (John, deceased) of Poolesville, MD, Sue Schierenbeck (John) of Westminster, MD, and brother, Andy Johnson (Carrie) of Poolesville, MD. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Joshua Watters, Amayrani Gonzalez, and Isaias Gonzalez.

Cheri was born in Washington, DC in 1954 to Annie P. and Robert G. Johnson. She grew up in Rockville, MD, the second of four children. After graduating from Wheaton High School in Wheaton, MD in 1972, she worked in clerical and administrative positions, living in Maryland, North Carolina, and finally settling in Tybee Island, GA.

Cheri loved to laugh and possessed an infectious sense of humor. She was passionate about music and attending live concerts, and enjoyed photography, reading, and traveling with family members. She was devoted to the animal companions--always rescues--that shared her life.

Memorial will be private. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.foxandweeks.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org.
