Celebrating the life of

Mark Daniel Monroe

April 20, 1964 - January 29, 2023

Mark Daniel Monroe

Mark Daniel Monroe (Danny), 58, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023.  Danny was born April 20, 1964 in Franklin, Kentucky to Arthur Monroe and the late Judy Gray Lamb Monroe.  He was a member of Bar Church on Tybee Island, and a supervisor for Southeast Freight.   Danny was a lifelong Kentucky fan but recently his daughter started attending UGA and he became a bulldog fan.  He was very active in his children’s lives and loved spending time with them…he was so proud of both of them.

Danny was a friend to many and a friend for life for all. He lived life to the fullest with a huge smile and a contagious laugh that would light up any room. Danny’s hugs were the best and he always gave them out to everyone.  He loved to cook for church on Sundays. His morning routine consisted of watching The Pioneer Woman show to get recipe ideas.

Jamy was the love of his life…you never saw one without the other. Not only was she the love of his life, she was his best friend. They were so blessed to find each other. They shared a special kind of love that radiated off of them.   Danny took great pride in his tan. If he was not at Tybee Time helping Jamy, he was greased up with oil soaking up the sun.  I hope heaven has a beach for Danny.

Danny is survived by his wife; Jamy Shearouse Monroe, daughter; Tatum Monroe, son; Wren Monroe, his father; Arthur Monroe, brother and sister-in-law; Troy and Laura Monroe, sister and brother-in-law; Cristi Monroe Freese and Dax Freese, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Shearouse, nieces and nephews, Peri, Addison, Leighton, Nash, Justin, Toren, Samantha and Sawyer.   He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Jay and Becky Shearouse, and finally, but best of all, his much loved dogs, Ziggy and Marley.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.

A Memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Islands Chapel.

A Celebration of Life will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Tybee Time.

Sorry to hear of this loss. Heaven gained a wonderful joyous man but too soon for all of us that will dearly miss him. My nephew and I vacationed in Tybee every year and came to be friends with Jamy and Danny. We couldn’t wait to get there to see them both and collect our ‘Danny’hugs. Prayers for Jamy and family and friends to help them strength during this difficult time.

Danny was a very good man; though I didn't know him as well as many here on the island, we always had great conversation when we spoke, usually just after bar church. I know he was very happy recently to have seen Kentucky play overseas in London, and win.... which of course he won also, in life. Rest in peace my friend

- Christopher Walsh, Tybee Island , GA
