Susan Maria Powers

Susan F. Powers – December 5, 1951 – October 16, 2022

Susan Maria Faso Powers passed away on October 16, 2022, at Candler Hospital surrounded by her family.

Susan accepted and dealt with life’s hurdles with a determination that defined her. She was strong-willed but also kind and caring to everyone. Susan was immensely spiritual and is undoubtedly resting in peace at home now.

Susan was a State of Georgia retiree, a talented seamstress, artist, and gardener.  She loved crocheting, reading, playing board games and bird watching.

Susan was born December 5, 1951, to Nicholas John Faso and LaRue Knox and was preceded in death by these parents and a daughter, Anne Nicole Powers.

Susan is survived by her husband, Mark Powers, a daughter, Megan (Taylor) Bridges, a son Matthew (Kiley) Powers, grandchildren and greatest joy, Brylee Abigail, Boaen Taylor and Thomas Levi, two sisters and best friends, Giovanna Thompson and Mary Linda Crocker, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.

Being originally from Buffalo, New York, she is also survived by her cousin Joseph V. “Buzz” Sedita and maintained her ties there. Susan is also survived by her cousins Debra and Sharon of the Lee family here in Savannah.

The family would like to thank Dr. Theodore Geffen for a lifetime of unparalleled care and friendship. Also, Dr. Ornela Ifti and the nursing staff at Candler Hospital 6 South for the thorough, kind, and compassionate care Susan received in the last 3 weeks of her life. There are truly angels on earth to continue in the spirit that Susan lived.

There will be a visitation and memorial service from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday October 21st at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Saturday Oct 22nd at 11:00 am.
